So what exactly is tea tree oil? It comes from the Melaleuca Alternifolia tree and it has been a medicinal tradition in the wilds of Australia for centuries. Below are some of the modern uses of tea tree oil:

– skin care
– first aid
– household cleaning
– hair care
– aromatherapy
– feminine care
– chronic illnesses
– dental care

The one above is the bottle I received from Apothecary Extracts. It’s packaged air tight in a dark colored bottle for a reason: light and air exposure are enemies of the tea tree oil. Storing it in a dark colored bottle allows the oil to stay as close to its original state. I did a skin test when I received this product and good thing, I did not experience any skin irritation or any other side effects. The product comes with an ebook “53 Uses of Tea Tree Oil” with complete steps on how to make your own body scrub, deodorant, lip balm, shampoo, conditioner, itch relief, toothpaste, mouthwash, oil diffuser, air freshener, bath salts, detergent, toilet cleaner, dryer sheets, oven cleaner and a lot more!

Happy birthday, Trees!

My colleague once said that women can leave three lasting legacies: write a book, give birth, and plant a tree.

Today, the trees I planted turned 6 years old. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, I brought Doraemon with me ๐Ÿ™‚ *Some of the photos were taken by buhaykalsada.multiply.com (website no longer active)

When I was still working for IBM in 2008, I joined a company-wide tree planting activity. ย We all hiked to Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan, Philippines. It took us hours to get to the tree planting site and it just felt great to give back to Mother Nature. At the time, there is an alarming rate of deforestation in the area and several mountaineers also did their part in planting trees.

It is one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. The trees are now 6 years old and I couldn’t imagine how tall they are. Anytime is the best time to plant a tree. In this ever-changing world, where only a small portion of the world are caring about trees, it doesn’t hurt to take the initiative to plant even just one tree. You can start leaving a legacy and making your mark in saving the Earth.

When will you start? ๐Ÿ™‚

Read and Book a Flight

This is me with my travel companion at Incheon International Airport ๐Ÿ™‚

โ€œI beg young people to travel. If you donโ€™t have a passport, get one. Take a summer, get a backpack and go to Delhi, go to Saigon, go to Bangkok, go to Kenya. Have your mind blown, eat interesting food, dig some interesting people, have an adventure, be careful. Come back and youโ€™re going to see your country differently, youโ€™re going to see your president differently, no matter who it is. Music, culture, food, water. Your showers will become shorter. Youโ€™re going to get a sense of what globalization looks like. Itโ€™s not what Tom Friedman writes about, Iโ€™m sorry. Youโ€™re going to see that global climate change is very real. And that for some people, their day consists of walking twelve miles for four buckets of water. And so there are lessons that you canโ€™t get out of a book that are waiting for you at the other end of that flight. A lot of people โ€” Americans and Europeans โ€” come back and go, โ€œOhhhh.โ€ And the lightbulb goes on.โ€ – Henry Rollins

Lovely Treehouse!

I was just in Atlanta a month ago and had I known that this beautiful and almost mystical treehouse exists, I would have spent at least one night in this place! I saw this in my Airbnb app and this is now included in my bucket list.

Such a gorgeous sight! I will soon come up with my top Airbnb listings soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Let’s Fly!

image

Riding a plane isn’t too bad. But for some, it is one of the main reasons why they can’t travel.

I was already an adult when I rode a plane for the first time. It was a domestic flight from Manila to Cebu and I wasn’t so scared. I was even excited because finally, my questions will finally have answers! Like..

Will I be dizzy?
Will I be able to walk inside the plane? I know flight attendants can but I have no idea how can they walk if you’re inside the plane? Like, are they floating or something?
Will I see birds?
Can I see a glimpse of outer space?
Does it fly steadily?
What if it collides with a bird or another plane?

These questions are the silliest ever but those are just a few that kept running through my head and I know at some point, some of you have these questions in mind the very first time you got on a plane.

But since then, I’ve been addicted to flying.

Nothing compares to the view. Especially when you are rising thousands of feet above and the airport becomes a size of pea, then people will start to look like ants, then you will see all the road and intersections ala Google Maps, then you will just see a piece of land connected to other lands, then it will be surrounded by every ocean and sea that you only see in books, then you’re up in the clouds!

You will then realize two opposing things: how big and small the world is. So small, that you cannot even find where you came from. So big, that as you go higher, you will come to a realization that everyone in this world are doing so many different things all at the same time. That is one part of traveling that I really love – getting to see the whole world from a cumulus cloud’s perspective.

If you haven’t flown yet, then you have no idea how beautiful our world is. ๐Ÿ™‚

“When you get into an airplane by yourself and take off, you find yourself in this lovely, three-dimensional world where you can go in any direction. There is no feeling any more exciting than that”. – Gene Roddenberry

FINtastic!

Back to Naptown.

Atlanta is a beautiful city. I wish I could stay longer as I didn’t have enough time to explore.

Right now, I have so many things I want to blog about and I just don’t know where to start! The highlight of my day though is the photo I took when we went to Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta. I posted it on my Instagram account and Georgia Aquarium’s official Instagram account liked it, reposted my photo on their profile, and they told me, I am their #FINtasticFan of the week! Yay! That made me smile but I could be happier with a freebie or they could let me adopt a dolphin or something.

Here it is and that’s my brother looking up!

This is just one of their viewing areas. The aquarium itself is huge and even if there are so many people, you will never run out of places that will allow you to view and even touch our underwater friends. I just wasn’t able to explore the entire place because we were pressed for time but I can say that Georgia Aquarium is one place you shouldn’t miss for anyone who will visit Atlanta.

Sometimes I wish I am one of those famous bloggers who get paid for traveling and eating at different places. That would be great doing something I love and getting paid for it. Truth is, nothing can stop me from traveling and exploring whether I get paid or not. ๐Ÿ™‚
